Breeding programme

Responsibility of a breeder

"Thanks to the breeders and their continuous work for generations, the dog breeds were formed and perfected through the time. Because of the mistakes of some breeders some breeds were severely damaged. Here we can mention the Progressive retinal atrophy and the hip dysplasia. A breeder has benefits and joys, but also sacrifices and disillusions.  Only a real (immeasurable) passion can sustain the work of a breeder. Incompetent breeders or breeders with no scruples, avid of quick earnings have almost ruined some wonderful dog breeds.  Most often breeders are most interested in the esthetics of their breed, in the show wins, in searching the perfection described by the standard, forgetting that a dog also has a character, that is more important than his appearance. The choose of the reproducers has to be based on both looks & temperament."

Translated from Piero Scanziani - "Enciclopedie dell cane"

I work for the English type - and we should  all do so since the Cocker Spaniel has British origins. My dogs come from English lines and they are either taken directly from the U.K. or bear famous English lines.

My dogs are first of all my companions, I stay with them all day long and they follow me everywhere - so of course shows are less important than characters, since I live with the dogs and their characters, not their cups & diplomas.

Temperament comes first, a good character is essential as we all choose a dog for a whole life.

I breed dogs for: temperament, health - my dogs are tested for hyp dysplasia and hereditary diseases of the eye like Progressive Retinal Atrophy, type, correct teeth and an easy coat are also high priorities.

I don't make compromises.

The Cocker Spaniel is perfect for company or pet therapy with his sweet and kind character, for Agillity with his great speed and intelligence, for Dog Shows with his beauty and elegance, and for hunting of course since this is what this magnificent breed has been created for.
